How and when do I enrol?
The school accepts enrolments from March the year prior to school entry and encourages families to submit applications to enrol by 1 August.
Applications must be submitted in person with original documentation. See Enrolling in our school for detailed information about proof of address requirements and to check if you reside within our catchment  Tours of the school are available and are conducted by our School Ambassadors.  Please contact the school to make an appointment.  Tours are conducted between 11.20am and 12.30pm Monday-Thursday.

How do I know when my child should start school?
Children are eligible to enrol in Kindergarten if they turn five years old by 31 July and must commence school in the year they turn 6. This includes December birthdays. Your early childhood centre will provide you with advice about school readiness and you are also welcome to discuss your child’s readiness for school with us. Please contact the Principal.

What transition programs are provided?
Coogee Public School offers a comprehensive transition to school program which includes parent information sessions and student orientation sessions.
3 sessions are conducted in October and November each year and students are invited to attend once enrolment documentation has been received and verified by the school. invitations are sent to the home address provided in enrolment documentation.

Visiting the School
Anyone visiting the school must visit the front office. The front office is located in the historic sandstone building. enter from Byron Street (Coogee Bay Road end). Our friendly office staff will assist with any enquiries. This includes parents who are bringing their children to school late or picking them up early.

What do I do if my child is late for school?
All students arriving after 9.00am are to be taken to the office to get a late slip. Students in K-2 should be escorted to the office by a parent.

How does the school deal with medical issues?
The school needs to be aware of any medical conditions that affect its students prior to enrolment or immediately following any change. This includes asthma, anaphylaxis and other allergies. The school will develop a health care plan for students with serious or life threatening conditions that require management at the school level. Any student falling ill at school will be taken to the office. Coogee Public School does not have a sick bay and cannot accommodate sick or injured students at the school. You will be contacted to take your child home if they present as ill or injured at school. If your child requires medication on a short term basis (eg flu, infections) please discuss with your doctor a medication plan that does not require medication to be taken at school. If this is unavoidable you must report to the office with the medication in its original packaging with dosage instructions clearly printed on the label and provide written consent to administer the medication.  Student do not self medicate except in the case of administering Ventolin.

What do I do if I want to pick up my child early?
All early leavers must be signed out of the office prior to being collected from classrooms. Teachers will not permit students to leave classrooms without a yellow leaver slip. Please respect that our staff have your child’s safety in mind when they refuse your request without a note.

How do I place a lunch order for my child?
Online at Flexischools at www.flexischools.com.au<http://www.fleximeals.com.au/>
Online ordering is our preferred method of receiving your Recess or Lunch order. Flexischools is open until 8.45 am each morning, a paper lunch bag is included in the cost.
Cancelling orders: If your child is unable to attend school, orders can also be cancelled by you before 8.45 am each morning on-line and your Flexischools account will be credited.   If you have internet /Flexischools problems and cannot place your order, please call Flexischools on 1300 361 769 and they will assist you and liaise with the Canteen to ensure your order is processed If you do not have internet access, lunch orders only can also be dropped off with cash at the Canteen each morning, please write your child’s Name, Class and Order PSSA or any other required information together with the correct money and place it in a Paper or Plastic bag (not an envelope) large enough to hold the Lunch order.   Counter Orders must be handed into the canteen before 9 am.


NOTE: correct money is essential as we receive very few cash orders now and no cash is kept overnight on the premises. If you do require change, please give the order to the canteen manager who will assist if able.
CHOICES – Wholemeal bread or roll is the default supplied if not specified on the hand written order, also please detail exactly what you wish as fillings, if butter is required and which salad options you wish to be included. If not requested, it will not be given.
Please consult the menu before placing a hand written order at the Counter, checking availability and prices. Also, please note that credit will not be given, but children who forget their lunch will be given a vegemite sandwich $1 or cheese sandwich $2 and payment will be requested.

Who do I see about any problems concerning my child’s education?
Any issues with your child’s education or wellbeing should be directed to the classroom teacher. If you wish to speak to your child’s teacher, please submit and interview request form via the website and your child’s teacher will contact you to confirm a time.  Your child’s teacher will refer issues that cannot be resolved at the class level or more serious issues to the school’s executive or to the Learning Support Team for follow up.  For more information about our approach to ‘the learning partnership’ – download a copy of the Working With the School Brochure.

How and when do I pay my Term Invoice?
Invoices should be paid promptly at the beginning of each term. A term invoice is provided to all parents at the beginning of the year with a due date two weeks after the issue date. Payments are made in the following ways:
1. Online through the Online Store
2. In person (Cash, Cheque, Credit Card and EFTPOS) * Amex is not accepted.
3. Sent with your child using the form provided in a clearly marked envelope

When are the major school events held?
Dates for major school events are updated regularly on the calendar and updates are provided in the weekly newsletter “The Buzz”.
